Once a year, marketing agency McMillan & Phillips partners with a non-profit that is causing a ripple effect in the world with their mission, and offers their marketing services free of charge for three months.

The founders of M&P, Kaitlin McMillan and Zach Phillips, firmly believe that marketing can be used for good and can help spread awareness for initiatives and missions that will benefit our society as a whole.

This year, the M&P team selected Love is My Religion. A non-profit organization focused on creating a space where controversial issues can be discussed openly and honestly in a collaborative setting.

Information is spread online everyday and there are limited organizations out there like Love is My Religion that are bridging the divide with human connection.

According to the Polarization Index (PI) that tracks national political division as measured within social media conversations, stood at 82.5 in 2021, due to increases related to immigration and policing policy.

Polarization is a complex, dynamic, and widespread phenomenon of huge import for CEOs who increasingly find their companies embroiled in whether to take a stance,” said Guy Churchward, CEO of Zignal Labs. “Using real-time technology, we can quantify the degree of polarization of given narratives, track this over time, and provide a framework for business and government leaders, as well as the media itself, to assess the dangers and opportunities that these topics pose.”

A few current issues dividing Americans are:

  • Abortion
  • Critical Race Theory
  • Gun Legislation

Love is My Religion hosts “be heard” online round table events based around these highly charged topics amongst others. Before the event kicks off, the moderators emphasize strict ground rules to ensure that everyone feels safe enough to not only be heard but listened to as well as set the tone for the next sixty minutes or so.

Board Member, and Treasurer at Love is My Religion, Karen Ussery said, “It’s important for the participants to understand this is not a debate. It’s a chance to express their beliefs and be authentically themselves in a respectful and safe environment no matter where they may stand on the political scale,”.

The next round table event will be on Saturday, May 14th, 2022. You can click here to RSVP.
